Metal Parts directly from CAD Data
EOSINT M 270 builds metal parts using Direct Metal Laser-Sintering (DMLS). The technology fuses metal powder into a solid part by melting it locally using a focussed laser beam, The parts are built up additively layer by layer, even highly complex geometries are created directly from 3D CAD data, fully automatically, in just a few hours and without any tooling. It is a net-shape process, producing parts with high accuracy and detailed resolution, good surface quality and excellent mechanical properties.
A wide variety of materials can be processed by the EOSINT M 270, ranging from light alloys via steels to super-alloys and composites.
Basic characteristics of technology DMLS
- use only metal, ceramic powder etc (not organics)
- mechanical propeties of parts depends on used powder and parameters of building
Advantages of DMLS:
1) Sintered part has 99,5% of material homogenity without metallurgic defects.
Reason: Model grows layer by layer, thickness 0,02mm to 0,1 mm (material depends on). Material is melted by 200W laser beam. Diameter of the beam is 0,1 mm. This is cold meltage - from temperature of area.
2) You can build parts that are not possible to produce by any other technology.
3) You can make your own composites exactly according to specific requirements. Finding and setting of parameters is software business.
Parts come straight from CAD data
You can even do this in the development phase. Even the most complicated initial models can be developed as an "intermediate step" in advance. Changes in construction and design are visibly incorporated on a ongoing basis. This means greater readiness for the start of production even in earlier development stages and at the same time, a sensitive sample results that are good not only for viewing, but also for realistic tests.
