Scanner 1 is a short endurance, Radio Controled aircraft system for surveillance and reconnaissance missions. Surveillance imagery from synthetic aperture video cameras and a forward looking are distributed in real-time both to the operational commander.

SYSTEM COMPONENTS

A typical Scanner 1 system configuration would include two aircraft and one ground control system.

PAYLOAD

The surveillance and reconnaissance payload capacity is 22lb and the vehicle carries electro-optical and infrared cameras.

Other payload options, which can be selected to meet mission requirements, include a laser designator and rangefinder.

GROUND STATION

The Scanner 1 ground control station is built into two suitcases, containing pilot and payload operator consoles.

OPERATION

Scanner 1 follows a conventional launch sequence from a semi-prepared surface under direct line-of-sight control. The take-off length is typically 50 m (150ft) and landing 100m (300ft). The mission is controlled through real-time video signals received in the ground control station. Command users are able to task the payload operator in real-time for images or video on demand.

USAGE

For police, military, promotions, real estate sales, technical documentation of historic buildings, digs registration, comparison of geological landscape modifications, agriculture, illegal buildings and junkyard finding, searching for persons, measuring of concentration of noxious gases, traffic monitoring, cottage areas monitoring, important buildings patrolling etc.
