The E.656 series is a six-axle Italian electric locomotive series nicknamed "Caimano" (German: Kaiman). It is a further development of the types E.636, E.645 and E.646 with a divided locomotive body. However, compared to the E.636 type, they have different axle and pivot distances. The high tractive power and the maximum speed of 150 km/h enable it to be used in front of passenger and freight trains.
