The diesel locomotive 749 257 was converted from the original class T 478.2 (from 1988: 752). It originates from the delivery series of 82 engines without train heating facilities for goods train operation. In the 1990s, the locomotive was retrofitted with electric heating and renamed the class 749. This modification was prompted by the more economic utilisation of the Bardotkas in front of short trains. The locomotive was also given the attractive Šumperker colour scheme, which was applied to multiple locomotives in different colour combinations. This locomotive was used both for passenger and for goods trains in the Czech Republic.
The class 2095 locomotives, purchased from 1958 onwards, formed the backbone of the ÖBB on the diesel-operated narrow gauge lines for decades. They were used in passenger and freight traffic, especially in rollbock/roll car traffic.
The 2095s were used on the narrow-gauge lines of the Ybbstalbahn, the Bregenzerwaldbahn, the Krimmlerbahn, the Waldviertelbahn and on the so-called "Krumpe". The latter formed the now disused local line from Ober-Grafendorf to Gresten.

In the 1970s, the former Czechoslovak State Railways (ČSD) was in great need of powerful diesel freight train locomotives for medium-weight shunting and line service. For this purpose, the lighter T 466.2 variant was derived from industrial locomotive type T 448. Starting in 1977, it was manufactured by ČKD in Prague in nine construction series (with small differences in each case) with 494 units and was operated by with the ČSD until 1986.
In 1998, the series designation T 466.2 was changed to 742. Many locomotives are still in use today in freight transport for CD Cargo on Czech rails.
