Increasing the Děčín-Prague connection to a maximum speed of 160 km/h required the modernization of some locomotives. Since 1994, six Czech locomotives of the 372 series were modified for faster international passenger transport and operated under the class designation 371 "Turbobastard". CD moved the converted machines to the Prague depot.
