Parní lokomotiva řady 86 byla standardní lokomotiva s tendrem, kterou ve velkém stavěly četné německé továrny na lokomotivy pro německou Reichsbahn. Po válce část parních lokomotiv zůstala v Rakousku a sloužila pro osobní a nákladní dopravu. Lokomotiva spolu s řadou 52 tahala i těžké rudné vlaky - což byla rozhodně její nejvelkolepější mise! Lokomotivy měly hlavní základny v depech Hieflau, Selzthal, Linz, Bischofshofen a St. Veit (Glan). V roce 1972 byly sešrotovány.
