DIGITAL STEAM LOCOMOTIVE WITH SOUND and DYNAMIC STEAM! CSD class 477.0 is the last and most technically sophisticated steam locomotive class of the Czechoslovak State Railways (CSD). A total of 60 models were manufactured by the CKD (CKD Sokolovo in Prague) between 1951 and 1955 and were developed from the previous class 476.1. The engines were designed as powerful express train tank locomotives with a 2'D2' axle arrangement for heavy slow train service and, with a weight in working order of around 131 tonnes, were considered one of the heaviest tank locomotives in Europe at the time. The three-cylinder engines reached a maximum speed of around 100 km/h and had a starting tractive force of almost 110 kN. Visually, class 477.0 was characterised by striking lines with an aerodynamic smoke box, Witte smoke-shield plates and elegant, predominately colourful paintwork with decorative lines. This earned it the nickname ‘Papousek’ (parrot) in everyday operation.

These former stars of the DRG were generally left in an appalling state following the Second World War – above all in the area of the streamlining cowling. The initial plan was to withdraw them from service. However, a major lack of locomotives meant that the decision was made to refurbish all existing engines. Within the scope of an L4, the remains of the streamlining cowling were removed. The 01 1062 locomotive put into service in 1940 received its new boiler in 1954. It was renamed as 011 062-7 in 1968, when EDP numbers were introduced. The final years before it was decommissioned, this locomotive was assigned to the Rheine depot, from where it was retired from service in 1973 whilst remaining particularly well-cared for.

The class 109 locomotives represented the culmination and high point of the 2-C locomotives in Austria. They made it possible to reduce the travel time between Vienna and Trieste from 13.5 to 10.5 hours. In 1913, the Budapest machine factory built eleven locomotives for use on lines in the Hungarian half of the empire. The locomotive, later designated as the 302 series in Hungary, differs from the original 109 series mainly in the angular covering of the inlet pipes and the typically Hungarian lamps. The air pump is also in a different place, namely at the back left of the boiler. The 109.107 numbered steam locomotive was built in Budapest in 1915, based on Austrian plan drawings. In 1932 the DSA railway company (Donau-Sava-Adria railway company) was nationalized. Its vehicles were transferred to MÁV. From 1932 this locomotive was working as MÁV 302.608. The model shows us the appearance of the last years of the locomotive.
